Proposed New Rutland Hall

Proposed New Rutland Hall Introduction
Historically a clubhouse has stood on this site since around 1920, initially called the Rutland rooms and being a dance hall. it progressed to the Lady Bay Social club up to 1946. Since then the West Bridgford Royal British Legion occupied the site, until the licence was withdrawn and the name was changed to RS&SC in 2007 The Rutland Sport & Social Club incorporates various clubs, tennis, bowls angling etc. and it appears from the records that it has a very strong community spirit.

With the national decline of British legions closing because of an aging membership, we have decided that our future lies within our local community. Our club ethos, rules and sprit allow us to do this, full integration and extended membership combined with "state of the art" facilities will secure the sites future for another 60 years.

The brief is to build a new multi functional building, that incorporates sports and social facilities and that is readily accessible to our local community, it will be DDA compliant to allow access to our less able members. It will also encourage our youngsters to participate in certain sports to the highest levels we will also endeavour to provide day to day social activities and group meetings. We will welcome any new or existing groups to use our facilities. We also intend to establish a quality evening entertainment programme.
