Welcome

We extend a warm welcome to visitors to our site,

The Rutland Sports & Social Club has recently closed after celebrating its 61st year on this site; the club occupies nearly a two-acre site between Pierrepont and Gertrude Roads.

The Lady Bay Bowls and Lady Bay Tennis Clubs are now independent organisations, and remain our good neighbours.

Established in 1946 by a few dedicated ex-service men, the site is owned by its membership. It held until 2007 an affiliation with the "Royal British legion" and branch members will still support the poppy appeal and raise money for the Royal British Legion, Britain's biggest charity. Following the RBL licence being revoked the club changed its name to Rutland Sport & Social Club.

Each section of the club and The Royal British Legion branch has contributed to the testament to the members of the last 60 years.

Sadly the Club was unable to continue in its historic format, and became run down and unprofitable.

It is hoped the revamped and partially rebuilt club building will reopen in late 2010 as a real ale pub, serving hearty good food, by a professional operator; and become once again an important asset to the community of Lady Bay.
